Andy Palmer: Training and Massage Therapy
"Shawn is amazing.  I had a total of 8 surgeries on my knee over the past 15 years and I was suffering from a lack of mobility and chronic pain.  Through an integrated treatment plan of massage diet and exercise Shawn not only eliminated my knee pain, but dramatically increased my flexibility and helped be bring my blood pressure down to normal.  Shawn's training style is truly unique  - he is incredibly flexible with my busy work schedule and pushes me aggressively to achieve while listening carefully to my feedback.  I can't imagine life without Shawn's advice and training on a regular basis."

Sally Mulhern, Personal Training
"After I lost weight, I was determined to keep it off.  I had lost weight before, but I had always gained it back.  Hiring Shawn as my personal trainer was one of the best decisions of my life!  I've been working out with him for over 2 years, and, not only is the weight still off, but  my family and friends tell me I'm in better shape than I've ever been in my life.  The endurance and strength training have given me more energy to do the things I enjoy, and have given me increased stamina when I travel for business.   I am a "lifer" with Shawn - I'll work out with him forever, if he'll have me!

" I had never used a trainer before I broke my hip.  I was 54 years old - active and fit - but breaking my hip was a challenge.  After physical therapy I was still having problems with getting my strength back - so my chiropractor recommended that I start a training regime - so I contacted Shawn.  Shawn' s training gave me the confidence and strength necessary to start walking normally again.  Within 3 months of training - I felt strong and fit again."  Bobbi Slavin Cimin

As a busy professional in mid-life, something always seemed to interfere with my exercise program, whether it was work, stress, family, other commitments, inerita, or whatever.  And whenever I did get a routine of some sort going, inevitably I'd get sick and fail to get back on track.  HAving Shawn as a trainer has changed everything for me: NO MORE EXCUSES!  With his positive attitude and great knowledge of all aspects of physical training, he really keeps me on track.  I've got more strength, flexibility, and stamina than I've had in a long time.  Best, of all, in the process we've become, and remain, good friends.

I think you are AMAZING! It's who you are as a person that makes you an incredible trainer - not visa versa. From the day we first met I believed in you - when I told you my expectation was to get healthy, not wear a bikini…you said I could wear a bikini someday if I wanted to. I believed you when you said that, and slowly over these past two years I've come to trust and respect you - not two emotions I hand out easily. I am healthier not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually. My relationships are healthier - my thought processes clearer. Two years ago I couldn't walk up from the parking lot to my office without getting winded - now I run over three miles and can't wait to do it again. You're training style goes beyond the physical movement, in fact I think that's almost secondary to the mental training you dish out -- to remain positive, to push beyond what I think I can do, to be consistent -- all the things that carry over into every other hour of the day beyond the hour we spend together.

Kathleen Donatello, Edurance Coaching
Winner at Lions Spring Sprint (age group 35-39)
This is my first season using MAP. Under the advice of my coach, Shawn Crotto, it has helped me recover faster and make the gains I needed to this season...and look how early it already is. My running has dramatically improved and my bike efforts have been stronger, I find that I am no longer exhausted at the end of a long training day, when my role as a mother and care giver needs to kick into high gear!
In the three races I have competed in this year I have come in 2nd OV (1st AG) for the first 5K of the season, 5th OV (1st AG) in the first Sprint Tri of the season, and had an outstanding 3rd race with a top 10% finish! I'm looking forward to the the balance of this racing season with MAP.
Sincerely, Kathleen Donatello  Eliot, ME

'In 2007, I had competed in two triathlons in May and June. My results were absolutely horrible, despite working out  VERY HARD with a trainer all Fall/Winter/Spring in preparation for the triathlon season. Based upon my terrible performances, I was considering quitting. I thought maybe endurance events wasn't a good fit for me.
A friend suggested I call Shawn before throwing in the towel, and Shawn assured me that he could help. After only two months of working with Shawn, I finished in the top ten at the Timberman Sprint. In September, I competed in my first Olympic distance event and placed third in my class! I never thought I'd could complete an Oly distance, never mind place third in an event. Shawn's expertise played a huge role in my rapid improvement.
Training for triathlons without a good plan is a massive waste of time and energy. Most people , myself included, do not have the expertise to build a workout plan that is effective. Every morning, Shawn emails me my workouts and my only job is to complete the workouts. I love having a plan in place, and I really love not being responsible for building the plan. I work out WAY harder and smarter now, and that is thanks to Shawn. I'm almost 37 years old, and I'm in the best shape of my life.

"I went to Shawn to help me get into shape for my wedding. I didn't give him much time to help me but he was ready and on point. He had a me eating right and on a great work out plan that was perfect for me and my goal. Thank you Shawn!"

Anthony Moulton, Massage/Training/Triathlete

I have worked with Shawn in a number of capacities over the past three years.  It's hard to believe that I have been working with Shawn in areas that are important to me for such a long time.  At first, I simply thought that adding a personal trainer to my schedule would change my overall fitness and appearance.  I was dead wrong.  There is a personal commitment to working with Shawn as he dedicates himself to each client's particular goal(s).  However, Shawn instills the need for mental and dietary change with each of his clients.  I quickly realized that obtaining a trainer does not achieve one's goals without listening and implementing the suggestions that Shawn makes in regards to workout, diet and continual fitness outside of Shawn's training sessions.  Shawn is not a passive trainer; rather, he remains quite active throughout the training process in and outside of the gym.

Initially, obtaining Shawn's expertise was my jumping off point. I had goals that I wanted to achieve and I just was not seeing them on my own.  Having worked out with Shawn for 3 years, I have gone from 185 lbs, 32 inch waist and 13.2% body fat to 164 lbs, 30 inch waist and 8.9% body fat.  These results didn't happen over night nor did they come without sacrifice.  However, in 3 years, I have never seen the need to deviate from working out with Shawn whether it's 5 days a week of 3 days a week.  He's certainly given me the confidence to excel in what I do as well as push me the extra mile, despite my efforts to complain slightly about some of the workload.

In the past 3 years, I have run 7 marathons (Boston Marathon - 3, Maine Marathon - 2, NYC Marathon - 1, Marine Corps Marathon - 1) as well as the Seacoast Half Marathon and Beach to Beacon every year.  I am now training for my first Triathlon sprint.  Never having any formal swimming lessons, I had no hesitation in getting in the pool 8 weeks ago for my first swimming lesson.  In all honesty, I was starting from scratch having a natural fear of the water.  In a short 8 weeks, Shawn has taught me the breaststroke as well as the freestyle. He continues to work with me on form, speed and efficiency.  However, I have no doubt that I will be ready to complete my first Triathlon sprint this June.

My overall fitness has been crafted and nurtured by Shawn's expertise.  I have and would recommend Shawn without any hesitation to any of my friends or colleagues.  The results I have seen in the past 3 years have been astounding.  His dedication to and flexibility with his clients is what makes his business so unique and invaluable.  He clearly has changed my personal fitness level for the better.  Thanks Shawn!
